The Design Cure is a strategic brand and digital studio in Canberra, working with business owners, artists and organisations around Australia.
We work across brand, messaging and digital on purpose - because inconsistency is expensive.
When your brand, your website, and your words are telling the same story, everything works harder - except you.
YOU CAN'T OUT MARKET BAD MESSAGINGRather than approaching marketing as a collection of disconnected tasks, I look at how the entire business experience connects - brand, messaging, website, customer journey, content, visibility and conversion.
Because often the issue isn’t that a business needs “more marketing.”
It’s that the pieces aren’t working together clearly yet.
That broader perspective means projects are approached strategically and collaboratively - with a focus on building marketing assets and systems that continue working long after launch day.
After 25 years and 100+ brands, one thing keeps proving true: when the positioning, messaging, and structure of your brand are right, your marketing becomes clearer, more effective, and far less exhausting.

Before any of this
Even as a kid, I was making posters, organising events, juice stands and thinking about how things looked, felt and connected - long before I had language for any of it.
The early years
My first real marketing role was in retail marketing, then high-profile shopping centre marketing alongside Sydney's biggest agencies, national brands and independent businesses. Within a few years I'd helped launch over 50 retail businesses in Australia.
What became obvious fast: the corporate giants had agencies and big budgets. The small indie retailers had better products, more heart, and far less support.
So I resigned and started helping small businesses as a freelancer. That's how the first agency started.
Building the Sydney agency
I hired a graphic designer and roped my husband in (he was so great with the operations). Year one was say yes to everything and figure it out as you go. By year eight we had a talented team and incredible clients - from household names to independent businesses that went on to do great things. We grew it, sold it, and moved our family to Canberra. (A sentence that sounds clean and linear and was neither of those things.)
Building my own brands
Along the way I built my own: a kids homewares e-commerce store, an arts marketing practice, a handmade textile decor collection, a sourdough operation that got out of hand during Covid.
Running your own brand while running client work is a different kind of education. You don’t theorise about what works you start finding out and it’s a great testing ground for ideas!
“Because my work touched so many parts of marketing and customer experience - retail environments, events, merchandising, digital, campaigns, customer behaviour and creative direction - I naturally started thinking about businesses more holistically.
Marketing in silos never felt quite right. I wasn’t just looking at a logo, a website or a social media feed in isolation. I was always looking at how the entire experience connected and whether it actually made people trust, engage and take action. That way of thinking became the foundation of how I work today.”

Foundations First
Most marketing advice online tells you to post more, spend more, or jump onto the next thing.
Our Foundations First approach is the opposite.
It starts with the positioning, messaging, and structure of your brand - because when those things are clear, everything else works harder and more effectively. It’s the approach I’ve used across more than 100 brands over the past two decades, and consistently, it’s the work that creates the strongest long-term results.
The Results
When the foundations are right, marketing becomes clearer, more effective, and far less exhausting.
Here’s what that’s looked like in practice:
An e-commerce business that generated seven figures in under a year
A service business fully booked within months of launch
A founder who stepped away from social media because their website now qualifies and converts consistently
An organisation that successfully re-engaged a disconnected membership base
An independent retailer that went on to win local business awards

Rachel presented to a varied group of sole -trader interior designers and architects - all with our own websites and the problems that come with running them! Rachel's content was SPOT on - her generous sharing of her years of experience and clear actions to help us out was welcomed. I have so many new ideas to implement from our lecture, and I will definitely be working with Rachel again. 10/10 recommend!

STILL HERE? GREAT! LET’S TALK.
If you’re feeling like your marketing has become noisy, disconnected, inconsistent or harder than it should be - there’s usually a reason. Thirty minutes is often enough to identify where the friction is, what’s missing, and whether we’re the right fit to work together.
